Unemployment is an event that occurs when a person who is actively searching for employment is unable to find work.

According to GS Gupta,"Unemployment actually refers to all persons who are not fully engaged in any productive activity."
So unemployment is a situation where is ready for working age is not able to get a job when real GDP growth slows, unemployment rises above the natural rate of unemployment.
